Spain: Here I Come!

Hola!

Indeed it is true, this soon to be teacher is shipping off to Spain for 3 months to continue to learn about teaching (and do some teaching too!) and to experience some culture.

Welcome to the portal into said teacher's experiences en Espana! You'll find my blog about all the crazy goings on, various assignments that will be posted for my online course and of course lots and lots of photos so you can all live vicariously through me!

I'll be living in a quaint little apartment in Barcelona with fellow friend and teacher, Bryndan Costuros-Spence. The school I'll be teaching at is called IES Leonardo da Vinci School and is located in Sant Cugat del Valles, approximately half an hour or so outside of Barcelona.

Why ship off to Europe for three months? In a very brief nutshell (to be explained in further detail at a later date), I feel that teaching is an incredible gift that I am so very fortunate to share with my students. An even greater gift, in my opinion, is to have incredible life experiences to bring to one's classroom. I am on a search for experiences that will continue to shape my developing profile as a teacher, and that will continue to aid in shaping the learning experiences of my future students. Different cultures lend themselves to meaningful learning as I will be coping with experiences that I am not necessarily used to. So, I am going to Europe to experience culture, and to learn about and work in different educational systems in hopes that I will return to Canada as an even more practiced teacher who will have incredible stories to enrich the lives  and learning of my students.

Stay tuned for some Spanish adventures!

Enjoy!

  2. Hey!

I'm going to be living in Barcelona from February to the end of April but the school I'm teaching at is in Sant Cugat del Valles, which is about 40 minutes outside of Barcelona by train. Your site looks good, Chile sounds fantastic! Ready to go?

  5. If you get a chance, check out Girona (1hr train right east), also Ryanair flies out of Girona so you can go anywhere for less than 10 Euros in Europe too so Barcelona is a great hub!

  6. Hi Brianne,
Great start to your blog. You are going to absolutely love Barcelona. Watch out for the "tatooed man", he may give you a scare.
The Gaudi park and church were my favourite sites when I visited there a few years ago. So, have a great time, and show those guys what Canadian teachers have to offer.
